Starting to Research

My Feelings about Researching

I'm actually looking forward to doing research for this class, which surprises me. I've never been one to enjoy researching, as searching through databases and constantly trying to perfect my filters to get ideal results has always been mind-numbingly boring at best. However, this book has a lot of historical/cultural allusions that I've never heard of. I've been Googling certain words/phrases to get a general idea of what they mean, but I think that it will be very interesting to dive deeper into an unknown topic and most likely get a better understanding of the book from it.

My Concerns

I think that overall, I'm fairly well-prepared for this research excursion. Fortunately my English and history teachers in high school taught me to research well, which I'm sure will apply here. It may be difficult to get used to using the new resources offered, as my high school only had a couple good databases and not much in the library, so this larger amount of information may be slightly overwhelming. However, I don't think that this will be a huge problem and I'm looking forward to learning how to use the new resources.
