How It's Going
I think that my final project so far is going pretty well. Although it was a bit difficult at first to find sources and texts, after my conversation with Michelle I was able to find a wider range of relevant sources. As of now, I've been putting some of my information into Neatline. It's been a bit of a learning curve, but I think I'm starting to get the hang of using Neatline. I've been enjoying trying to figure out some of the more complex features, although the program itself is not the most user-friendly. However, its usefulness as a tool outweighs the drawbacks of the occasional bug in the website.
What I've Found
I've been pretty interested in what I've found in my research. My topic is tragic lovers, so I've been looking for any story that ends with the death of at least one member of a couple. Some texts were pretty easy to find, but others were a bit more difficult. However, I was able to find a couple stories from very different cultures that I've never heard of, such as a Somalian story from the early 19th century and a Pashtun folk tale. Interestingly enough, although I was looking for stories related to Antigone, most tragic love stories are referred to as [its culture]'s Romeo and Juliet. I suppose this makes sense, as Romeo and Juliet is one of the most well-known stories to ever be written, but it was strange searching for titles related to Romeo and Juliet when I was really looking for stories related to Antigone.
I also found it difficult to start the project and gathering resources, but for me, the more I dive into the topic, the more I find. I also need to freshen up my skills with using Neatline, but I am excited to use it for the Intertextuality project.
